How Much Can You Save by Upgrading to a Higher Efficiency Air Conditioner or Furnace?
5 Signs You Need AC Repair
All air conditioners make a little bit of noise. But if the noise is loud, then something might have come loose. It’s better to call in your Portland AC repair specialists before your problem gets worse.
If you’re not getting cool air from your AC, then what is it for? This issue could be either because of a problem with your thermostat or a problem with your cooling.
This could be a water line that’s leaking, or it’s possible that your AC is freezing over and the ice is melting. First, check that the air filter isn’t too dirty. Otherwise, call in your Portland AC repair technicians because it’s possible your evaporator coil needs a good cleaning.
If your AC is running all the time to keep your indoor environment cool, then you’ll have to pay for all that extra work. Air conditioners usually cool for a period of time and then rest for a period of time. But if your unit isn’t working at 100% then it will have to work double-time.
If your smelling mildew or dust, you probably just need to clean your ducts. But if you ever get a burning smell coming from an AC unit, then there’s an issue that needs a professional’s attention.
Helping Your A/C Keep You Cool
Throughout the summer months, your air conditioner may be the single most frequently-used appliance in your home. Running for hours per day every day of the week for months at a time can put a considerable amount of strain on your system’s various components, and it’s not uncommon for something to give out and cause your system to stop working as it should. At Pyramid Heating & Cooling, our job is to find what has gone wrong with your air conditioner and then fix the issue to get your air conditioner working again.
We fix all types of air conditioning issues, including:
- Compressor issues
- Refrigerant leaks
- Inconsistent/fluctuating temperatures
- Strange sounds or smells
- Thermostat problems
AC Repair Vs. Replacement
When an air conditioning unit breaks down, you’re left with a couple of options. You could either go for AC repair or replacing the unit outright. Which you should opt for depends on a few factors, but while AC repair may seem like the cheaper option, replacement is better if any of the following apply.
- Your AC is older than 10 years – How long an AC unit lasts depends on use, environment and maintenance levels. But if your unit is older than 10 years and it breaks down you should think twice before sinking more money into repairing a dying unit.
- It requires R22 Freon – Because of the 2020 Freon Ban units that require this banned substance will become increasingly expensive to run as the coolant becomes more and more scarce, so it’s time to consider replacement.
- It needs repair after repair – While our Portland AC repair team will always be happy to come in and fix your unit, if they’re over so often that you’re getting to know them by name then replacement is going to be less expensive than the umpteenth repair call.

What Our Client Says
We provide high-quality heating and cooling at a reasonable rate. Servicing Marion, Hendricks, Hamilton, Montgomery, Putnam and Boone counties in Central Indiana.
He did a great job. He is very professional, quick and very reasonable. He was prompt and very on time.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
I called him and he came out the same day. I had some issues with a contractor and I needed a cleaning and a/c unit cleaning to help with my home.
Brian was great! He was prompt and courteous and I believe that he is an honest business person. He was recommended by a family member after I had a different local company come out to do yearly service on 2 air conditioners and I felt that their price to fix the one air conditioner was exorbitant. Brian’s price included inspection of the unit, 2 hours worth of leak searching, and 4.5 lbs of 410A refrigerant (Puron). Ultimately, he did not find a leak and suspects that either the leak is very tiny or the other service company didn’t charge the system properly. On one hand, $330 seems like a lot when the leak wasn’t found but this was about 1/2 of what the other company wanted to charge me.
I was having a lot of difficulty maintaining proper heating and cooling in the upstairs of my home. Brian spent a significant amount of time analyzing the heating/cooling set up along with the original duct and supply work. He determined a corrective course and performed the rework with punctuality, efficiency and professionalism. I would definitely contact Ayres Mechanical for any future heating and cooling needs.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Reworked all duct work in the attic.
I’ve had Brian work on my heater and central a/c for several years. I’m very happy with his work. He is knowledgeable and tells me details about what he is doing and why. He’s not afraid to admit a mistake and correct it for free.
Bryan does a great job. He schedules actual appointment times and shows up on time. He is fair with his pricing and does quality work. He seems to be very knowledgeable and is willing to take the time to explain things in detail
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
annual service for two furnaces and fixing a humidifier
Brian was prompt showing up for the work. He inspected and cleaned the AC units. He also relpace a few minor parts that were suspect to fail.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
I have used Brian several years for general maintainence on my heating systems and AC units. I have a large home with 3 heating units and 3 air conditioners. He does an excellent job, the nice thing about Brian is when I have a question about something he takes the time to explain it so you understand it. The business I used before Brian was more expensive and my systems often needed repairs mid season. Since I started using Brian my systems run efficiantly and for the whole season.
